Hoang Viet started out and worked as a collab-photojournalist from 2017 to 2025 for Dantri, VietnamNews Agency, Mekong Eye and VnExpress. In 2021, he graduated with a major in photojournalism from the Academy of Journalism and Communication and at the end of 2023, he completed the IMMF (Indochina Media Memorial Foundation) course under the guidance of James Nachtwey. He is currently working as a freelance photojournalist for both domestic and international newspapers such as VnExpress, Dantri, Bloomberg and Mekong Eye, among others. In 2019 and 2022, Hoang Viet was awarded a Top 50 'Press Moment' prize by the Vietnam Journalists Association
