Check FAQAbout Stella
Stella Martany is an award winning journalist, field producer, and fixer based in Iraq. Her writing has appeared in The Associated Press, The Telegraph, Al Jazeera, and The Sunday Times, with reporting that centres on human rights, environment, indigenous and marginalised communities, displacement, conflict, and the politics shaping Iraq and the wider Middle East. Beyond her bylines, Stella has worked with hundreds of international correspondents, broadcasters, photographers, and documentary teams on video and photo assignments across the country; coordinating access, sourcing, translation, security, and on-the-ground production for major networks, wire services, newspapers, and independent journalists alike. She began this work during the war against ISIS in 2016, and has since built one of the most trusted networks for foreign press operating in Iraq. She is based in Erbil, where she continues to report from all over Iraq on and from communities whose voices are too often left out of the headlines.
