Women who are raising children with disabilities in low-income communities in Kenya face numerous challenges, hindering their ability to care for their children effectively. These difficulties often lead to emotional and mental strain as they experience societal exclusion, ultimately impacting the welfare of the children. Our Mombasa-based reporter, Salma Mohamed, visited a center dedicated to supporting children with cerebral palsy, bringing us the following report Narration: Kurunzi is a rehabilitation center for children with cerebral palsy, located in a neighborhood in Mombasa. Here, children receive physical therapy to improve their mobility and overall well-being. Beyond being a medical facility, Kurunzi is also a sanctuary for mothers seeking emotional and psychological support.

Environmental pollution, especially at western Indian Ocean where coastal Kenya resides, has reached alarming levels. Statistics show that sea temperatures have increased by 3 percent since 1990. This pollution threatens human and animal life as well as food production. Various efforts are being made to improve the situation, although they are not fully supported by those involved. Sarah Cameron Sunde, an American citizen, uses the art of standing for 12 hours to pressure the world to adjust their behavior. However, more energy and resources need to be put in sensitizing and empowering the youth about this rather new economy that looks very promising. UN has estimated its yearly turnover to between US$3 and 6 trillion. In its newness, it would be of great importance that the National and County Governments (Especially Coastal counties) dedicate special parts of their budgets towards 1. Defining the blue Economy 2. Building the blue Economy 3. Governing the blue Economy 4. Innovating the blue Economy CDF and Affirmative action funds (NGAAF) have done a tremendous job in building schools and roads...kindly shift gear and support us in identifying untapped opportunities as well as existing gaps in knowledge and skills in B.E for the reason of realizing and sustainably utilization of this ocean resource optimally.
