I've been a journalist for 27 years and specialise in British Muslim and global Muslim affairs. I started my career in local newspapers in the UK before moving into TV journalism with London Weekend Television. I then went onto work at Al Jazeera‘s English website in Qatar. Upon my return to the UK a few years later I became head of news at Islam Channel. I then joined Press TV where I was head of news in London for five years, before founding the British Muslim news platform 5Pillars in 2013. During my career, I have reported from over 25 countries. Highlights include the 2003 Iraq war, the Pakistan earthquake in 2006, the Lebanon-Israel war in 2006, the Iran nuclear crisis, the Egyptian and Libyan revolutions during the Arab Spring, the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa, the 2012 London Olympics, Afghanistan under Taliban rule and much more.
