I worked as a film fixer for the Japan episode capturing the Ama—traditional women divers who have been fishing the coastal seas for generations. This episode focuses on the issue of "Isoyake," a phenomenon often described as a "desertification of the sea." Due to environmental degradation, seaweed beds are disappearing. Without seaweed, marine life such as abalone, turban shells, and other essential species can no longer thrive—directly affecting the livelihood of the Ama.

I’ve had the great privilege of joining as a filmfixer truly meaningful project in collaboration with Zeiss Nature Japan and the wonderful team of Miyakejima Whale Blow Project Okuyama-san. When it comes to climate and the environment, I believe animals and nature are often our most honest messengers—they sense and respond to changes long before we do. By observing shifts in their habitats, we learn about the transformations unfolding around us.
