Regis Iglesias is a journalist based in Miami, United States of America. Born in Havana on September 18, 1969. In addition to his civic and human rights activities in the Christian Liberation Movement, to which he has belonged since 1989 and has been its spokesperson since 1996, he collaborated with the independent press at the Independent Press Bureau of Cuba, the Nueva Prensa Agency, and the Manuel Márquez Sterling Society of Independent Journalists in Havana from 1996 to 2001. He has published articles in the press in Europe, Latin America, and the United States. He is a founding member of the board of directors of the Ibero-American Democratic Cause Association in Madrid, a member of the Varela Project International Support Committee, and the PEN Club of Cuban Writers in Exile. He has published several books of poetry, including Historias gentiles antes de la resurrección (Gentile Stories Before the Resurrection). Aduana Vieja Publishing House, Cadiz, Spain; Autumn Memories, Hispano Americana Publishing House, Madrid, Spain; and the conical works The Book of the Cell, Circulo Rojo Publishing House, Malaga, Spain; and Like an Echo in Exile, Voces de Hoy Publishing House, Miami, United States. His poems and chronicles have been included in the anthologies The Blue Book, Germania Publishing House, Valencia, Spain; Vrsi tra le sbarre, Il Foglio Publishing House, Italy; Poets and Storytellers, PEN Editions, Miami, United States; and Essayists and Journalists, PEN Publishing House, Miami, United States. In 2010, he was exiled to Spain, where he returned after seven and a half years of an 18-year sentence for political reasons. He was declared a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International in 2004. He resided in Spain until 2021 and has since lived in Miami, United States. From 2022 to 2024, he hosted the program Liberación on Radio República, which broadcast the Cuban Democratic Directorate to Cuba.
