Omid Memarian

Omid Memarian is a journalist and policy analyst specializing in human rights, foreign policy, and Iran. With more than two decades of experience in reporting and analysis, his work has focused on political reform, civil society, and the intersection of domestic repression and international diplomacy in the Middle East.

He has written for leading international publications, including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Foreign Affairs, The Wall Street Journal, Time, Politico, The Daily Beast, The San Francisco Chronicle, and openDemocracy, among others. His commentary and analysis have also appeared on major broadcast networks such as MSNBC, NBC, BBC, and Al Jazeera, where he provides insight on Iran, regional security, and global political trends.

Memarian holds dual master’s degrees in Journalism and Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. He was a Rotary World Peace Fellow at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, where his academic work focused on conflict, media, and international policy. His career bridges reporting, analysis, and public engagement, bringing journalistic rigor to complex geopolitical issues.
