I am a Nigerian journalist and writer with particular focus on Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta, one of Africa’s most environmentally sensitive and politically complex regions. I report on climate and environmental challenges, oil and gas industry, governance, and cultural issues, examining how these impacts the lives, livelihoods, and the overall state of life across local communities. My work is based on direct engagement with affected communities, civil society actors, traditional leaders, and subject-matter experts, allowing me to translate complex environmental and governance issues into clear, human-centered narratives. I have special interest in stories that zoom in on activities such as environmental degradation and pollution, gas flaring, oil spills, and flooding as well as oil and gas host community–oil company disputes, development interventions, and public accountability. As a freelance journalist, I have experience producing broadcast and digital stories and working independently in challenging field conditions. I am indeed committed to ethical, evidence-based journalism that amplifies underreported realities, supports accountability, and contributes to informed public discourse on climate justice and sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond.

Here, I visited Ogoni, a group of communities in Rivers State, Nigeria, where the people protested widespread environmental pollution and economic marginalization caused by the multinational oil company Shell and the Nigerian government. I spoke with them about the government's recent move to resume oil production in the area. 32 years after they expelled Shell. The people, including the widow of an activist slain during the height of their struggle, are demanding justice and reparations. After this report, the Presidency sent a team to meet with the people deliberations are currently ongoing.
An explanatory report examining global calls for climate justice alongside the rise of carbon credit markets, featuring perspectives from Niger Delta experts who warn that major polluters may be using carbon credits as a substitute for genuine emissions reduction, particularly in extractive regions.
