Mehedi Hasan Marof

Mehedi Hasan Marof is a journalist based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, who focuses on criminal justice, security force misconduct, political corruption, climate change, and OSINT. He is now with Netra News, a Sweden-based investigative outlet focused on Bangladesh. 

He also reports independently for outlets like Al Jazeera, NBC, The Diplomat, and Dialogue Earth.

Mehedi previously worked full-time for Bangladesh's leading English daily - The Business Standard. His works also appeared on The Wire, Scroll.in, Eco-Business, Climate Diplomacy, The Daily Star, Dhaka Tribune, and Prothom Alo.

His fearless coverage of the 'student-led protests that ousted Bangladesh’s longest-serving prime minister' earned high praise from academics, fellow journalists, and the public alike. His 2000-word exposé for Al Jazeera—which over fifty top Bangladeshi and Indian media outlets picked up — reverberated largely across the national discourse and influenced state policy.

Mehedi graduated Summa Cum Laude from one of the top private media schools in Bangladesh, ULAB - with major in Digital Journalism and minor in English. He maintained a CGPA of 3.98 out of 4, earning Vice Chancellor's Award and Dean's Award.

Mehedi also worked as a Research Assistant (RA) at the Center for Sustainable Development - where he substantially contributed to a study on coastal fishers.
