Despite the opposition from conservative groups, women's organizations and the youth are in favor of the updated sex education curriculum.

Myanmar actor Min Yar Zar, along with his wife Phu Ngone Pwint and her father Maung Maung Aye, have been charged with the rape and mutilation of a 15-year-old domestic maid. The charges include causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons and conspiracy to commit a crime, with potential sentences of up to 20 years. The victim, who began working for the actor at the age of 10, reported being attacked with a hammer and acid. The case is being heard at North Okkalapa and Tamwe township courts in Yangon, with the next hearing scheduled for May 21. A Rakhine man, known as case 190, who tested positive for Covid-19, was forced to travel to the hospital by river due to local authorities blocking road access. The 25-year-old returned from Malaysia and tested positive, becoming the second confirmed case in Rakhine. He was taken to the 100-bed Taunggok Hospital, which lacks proper equipment and staff to handle the situation, as highlighted by doctor Kyaw Bo Win on Facebook.
