Housing development should be for everyone, not just the wealthy, says local councillor
A housing development in Llandyrnog, Denbighshire, is under debate, with local councillor Gwilym Evans advocating for homes that cater to the entire community, not just the wealthy. The project, proposed by Jones Bros, includes 40 homes, mostly pairs or single units with three or four bedrooms. Concerns have been raised about the affordability and suitability of the homes for young people and the community. The development is currently in the consultation phase, with some locals, like butcher Daniel Jones, supporting the need for more housing to boost local businesses and services. The planning company Caulmert, representing the developers, claims the project will contribute positively to sustainable development in the area, with 10% of the homes designated as affordable housing.
Sentencing of man for damaging taxi with tractor after dispute
A 23-year-old farmer, James Peacock from Llangristiolus, Ynys Môn, received a suspended prison sentence for damaging a taxi with a tractor following a dispute with the driver, Paul McKeown, after a night out in Bangor. The court heard that food had fallen on the taxi floor, leading to an altercation where McKeown allegedly hit Peacock with a weapon, which McKeown denies. Peacock drove his tractor into the taxi, lifting it off the road. Judge Simon Mills described the act as dangerous negligence. Peacock admitted to dangerous driving and received a four-month suspended sentence, 180 hours of community service, a 12-month driving ban, and was ordered to pay £500 in costs.

Fourteen stolen beehives, valued at up to £11,000, were recovered about three miles from their original location in Denbighshire. Nathan Egerton Evans, co-director of West Coast Apiaries, expressed relief at the recovery, noting the hives were in good condition. The police were informed of the hives' location, but no suspects have been identified.
