About Sani
Sani Aliyu is a multimedia broadcast journalist currently based inside Sudan. He has more than 15 years experience as a field reporter, producer and presenter. 

He started his career as a software/web developer in Nigeria, then moved to Egypt and Sudan, where he was snapped up by the Hausa Service of the BBC. Apart from the BBC, he has worked with TRT Afrika, Media Trust Group (owners of Daily Trust, Aminiya, Trust Radio, and Trust TV as a social media manager for the group.

With a lot of experience in both print and broadcast journalism, he is also adept at conducting interviews and gathering information. A fast and accurate journalist who requires little supervision in order to meet tight deadlines.   

He speaks and writes in several languages fluently, namely Hausa, English, Arabic, Pidgin English and understands French.

Kamfanin buga Alkur'ani mafi girma a Afirka This is a digital video which I recorded and edited during my visit to the largest Qur'an printing press Africa for the BBC Hausa Service in 2021. The massive press which is situated in the capital city of Khartoum, donates all the Qur'ans it prints to Muslims on the African continent.

Jima: The Hausa of Sudan and the age-old business of leather tanning I visited the Darfur region of Sudan in April 2023 where I covered several human interest stories, including this one that covers the role of the indigenous Hausa population in the business of producing hides and skins. This particular video which I produced and edited for the Turkish broadcaster TRT Hausa, shows the process of tanning animal hides which in turn are used in making leather products and exported out of Sudan.
