Women who are raising children with disabilities in low-income communities in Kenya face numerous challenges, hindering their ability to care for their children effectively. These difficulties often lead to emotional and mental strain as they experience societal exclusion, ultimately impacting the welfare of the children.
Our Mombasa-based reporter, Salma Mohamed, visited a center dedicated to supporting children with cerebral palsy, bringing us the following report
Narration:
Kurunzi is a rehabilitation center for children with cerebral palsy, located in a neighborhood in Mombasa. Here, children receive physical therapy to improve their mobility and overall well-being.
Beyond being a medical facility, Kurunzi is also a sanctuary for mothers seeking emotional and psychological support.
Environmental pollution, especially at western Indian Ocean where coastal Kenya resides, has reached alarming levels.
Statistics show that sea temperatures have increased by 3 percent since 1990.
This pollution threatens human and animal life as well as food production.
Various efforts are being made to improve the situation, although they are not fully supported by those involved.

During that period, according to the tides, the water comes and goes while standing in one place.
