Andy Chia, the Pujut assemblyman, has called on Telekom Malaysia (TM) to upgrade their internet infrastructure from copper cables to fibre optics in areas like Pujut, Piasau, and Krokop to improve internet speeds and reduce service disruptions. During a walkabout with TM representatives, Chia addressed the increasing customer complaints about frequent internet interruptions. TM service engineer Zakinah Tuah acknowledged the ongoing major system overhaul and the possibility of a temporary shutdown for maintenance. Chia suggested TM provide advance notice of service suspensions, while a local internet user, Leong Choon Min, expressed frustration over the slow and unreliable internet connection affecting online business activities.
