Cultural mores deem homosexuality. To open up would be worse, dishonoring one's family. Here, there is no greater offense.

The Jordanian government recently approved a decision to remove the religion field from the civil identity card. This decision was met with relief by many, especially followers of religious sects such as the Bahá'í and Druze communities. Members of non-Islamic and non-Christian religions expressed that they have faced issues with official transactions in Jordanian government departments. The new identity cards, expected to be issued next month, have sparked a debate on social media, with hashtags launched by both opponents (#No_To_Removing_Religion_Field_From_ID) and supporters (#Yes_To_Removing_Religion_Field_From_ID) of the decision.
