About Meng
Meng Yang is a journalist based in London, United Kingdom.Yang has previously engaged with Bloomberg BusinessWeekly (Chinese Edition), “Caijing” magazine, and “Southern Metropolis Weekly” magazine as an investigative journalist and chief writer. His works included series of reporting in relation to the Sichuan earthquake and the aftermath. Yang investigated in depth on the PRC-DPRK border trades and smugglings; Sino-Burmese investments. 
Yang won the 1st prize of the Beijing City News Award and recently won the 1st prize of the 2010 Developing Asia Journalism Awards held in Japan. for his excellent and in-depth reports on the PRC-DPRK border trades and smugglings. In 2012, Yang was nominated the Best Environmental Reporting, by the Guardian Newspaper and China Dialogue. 
In 2012, Yang has opted to become a freelance writer and journalist, and has been contributing his articles to “Southern Weekly”, “Portrait” magazine, and other publications. Yang is the author of Strangers: The People Among Us(陌生的中国人). The book features nineteen stories of the ordinary Chinese people, between 2008 and 2013, in backdrop of the rapid changing societies and the fast growing Chinese economy. These are peoples and stories that happen among Chinese yet being blot out by the glamorous China Growth Story.In 2016, he published a non-fiction novel  The River(不平静的江河) in Taiwan.
