Lawyer of the Finnish beauty queen arrested for drug trafficking: She is not guilty, but an outsider
A Finnish-Filipino beauty queen was arrested on June 9th during a drug raid in a luxury apartment in the Taguig area of Metro Manila, along with a male individual present at the location. Her lawyer, Victorio N. Casauay, confidently stated that all evidence indicates she should not have been involved in the case, emphasizing her innocence. The lawyer declined to comment on the relationship between the beauty queen and the man or why she was in the apartment during the raid, citing irrelevance to the case. He refuted claims that she had been staying in the apartment for several days prior to the raid, explaining that she visited the apartment because the man was a close friend of her husband and might know her husband's whereabouts.
Report from the Philippines: This is the harsh prison where the Finnish beauty queen is detained - watch the video
A 27-year-old Finnish-Filipino woman was arrested on June 9 at 9:30 PM local time from a luxury apartment in Trion Towers, Manila, on suspicion of running a drug distribution center. Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency spokesperson Derrick Arnold C. Carreon detailed the seizure of ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine, and unauthorized prescription drugs from the apartment. The woman, who has worked as a model and participated in beauty contests, denies any wrongdoing, claiming she was coincidentally in the apartment at the time of arrest. The male suspect has confessed to some of the crimes. The suspects are currently held at Camp Bagong Diwa Prison due to a fire at the intended detention facility. The prison conditions are described as inhumane, with overcrowding and disease. President Rodrigo Duterte's administration has taken a hard stance against drugs, with severe penalties for drug-related offenses and a controversial policy that has led to extrajudicial killings.

Carl Icahn prods eBay to sell 20 percent of PayPal via IPO
Carl Icahn, an activist investor, has suggested that eBay should sell 20 percent of its PayPal unit through an IPO while retaining 80 percent control. eBay appreciated Icahn's revised stance, noting that a full separation of PayPal is not ideal. Icahn argues that the spin-off could enhance product offerings, attract talent, and allow for better valuation by analysts. He also criticized board member Marc Andreessen for potential conflicts of interest. Despite previous retreats in his investment strategies, Icahn has seen significant profits from his investments.
