Leo Galuh is a multimedia freelance journalist based in Jakarta and Bandung, Indonesia, with over a decade of experience. 

His work spans television, text articles, business intelligence, vertical video formats, and photo essays. His articles have been published in outlets such as Thomson Reuters Foundation (Context Newsroom and Openly), FairPlanet, Deutsche Welle Indonesia, The Business Times, Al Jazeera English, Nikkei Asia, and The China Global South Project.

Since 2020, Leo has worked as a fixer and field producer for NHK World TV Japan, producing business news, human interest features, and documentaries. In 2023, he collaborated with RAI TV Italy on a documentary about the environmental damage caused by nickel mining in Morowali, Central Sulawesi. 

From 2018 to 2024, he served as a correspondent for Acuris/ION Analytics, reporting on legal, regulatory, and policy developments in Indonesia, covering topics like competition law, mergers, cartel investigations, and anti-corruption.

Leo’s reporting spans human rights, economy, climate change, renewable energy, LGBTQ+, and social issues. 

His work on a quartz sand report with The China Global South Project earned an Honorable Mention at the SOPA Awards 2024. 

He participated in DW Akademie’s “Megacities” fellowship in 2022 and 2023, and will join the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2025 as a media fellow.
