My photographic eye influenced by artistic ghosts?

19 Aug 2019  |  medium.com
Eva-Lotta Jansson reflects on the influence of postcards on her photographic work. During a visit to her mother in Sweden, she notices a postcard of a painting by Anders Zorn that resembles a photo she recently took of a sunrise in the Swedish Archipelago. Intriguingly, Zorn used to dock his boat and watch the sunrise at the same spot where Jansson took her photo. She muses whether the postcards she saw growing up subliminally shaped her photographic eye or if it was a coincidence that she found the perfect sunrise spot, which she refers to as a 'friendly joke' by the artistic ghosts of the island. Jansson also notes that postcards can be valuable resources for researching travel stories and finding destination highlights.
