About Edgar
My name is Edgar Maciel and I'm 30 years old. I have my major in Journalism at Pontifice University Catolic of Rio Grande do Sul. My mother tongue is Portuguese and I also speak Spanish and English fluently. I started my career in radio. I worked at Rádio Gaúcha and, recently, at Rádio CBN, the biggest radio in Brazil. I also had experience with television working for RBS TV, in Rio Grande do Sul, and for Band TV, as a digital editor.

In 2013, I moved to São Paulo and I took a specialization course about Economic Journalism at Fundação Getúlio Vargas. I worked for O Estado de São Paulo, one of the most important newspaper in Brazil, as a reporter. Over the last three years, I've had a lot of experiences with Journalism that has helped me improve my skills in different areas of Journalism. Besides economic issues, I'm interested in Human Rights, Politics and Latin American issues. At the moment, I'm working for Huffington Post in Brazil as a multimedia reporter and video editor.

Recently, I traveled to Amazonia's border, visiting Colombia, Peru and Brazil to research about HIV and Women Rights. I also covered the Olympic Games in Rio, presidential election in Brazil, in 2014, Dilma Roussef's impeachment, in 2016, and immigration issues in Brazil (such as Haitians and Syrian refugees).
