The Syrian Constitutional Committee commenced its work in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations. UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, stated that the constitution belongs to the Syrians and that a draft amendment will be presented for a popular referendum. Ahmad al-Kuzbari, head of the government delegation, emphasized that dialogue should occur without any foreign intervention or preconditions. Meanwhile, Hadi al-Bahra, head of the opposition delegation, called on the other side to acknowledge that a political solution is the only solution.
