I'm a Warsaw-based journalist, producer, fixer, photographer and translator working in Central Europe and the Balkans currently mainly for Der Spiegel, one of Europe's top-notch magazines. 

Over the years, I have travelled throughout these regions extensively for multiple other news organizations, including the Washington Post, Foreign Policy, Balkan Insight, Al Jazeera, The Times, Sunday Times, Daily Beast, Politico and Euronews, among others.

Based in various places from Warsaw through Bratislava to Budapest and Sarajevo, I have covered nearly all the major stories with regional ramifications, including the rise of nationalism and illiberalism, elections and street protests, refugees fleeing the war, energy crisis and even football events. I have reported on how local strongmen moved to consolidate power and remake societies, and how they managed to create a loyal base among their supporters. For that, I regularly went beyond capital cities and talked to local people.

I am a recipient of numerous fellowships and grants in the region, including the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting Grant (in Bosnia), BIRN Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence (in Poland), two BIRN’s Reporting Democracy Travel & Reporting Grants (in Bosnia and Serbia), Visegrad Literary Residency Fellowship (in Hungary) as well as the Kosciuszko Foundation Fellowship at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington DC.

I have regularly worked with multimedia teams to produce photo packages related to my text reports. My photographs have been featured in Der Spiegel, the Balkan Insight and Al Jazeera, among other outlets. I am a prolific street photographer too.

I speak Polish, English, Slovak, Croatian and some French, and understand Czech.
