About Atilla
Atilla Alp Bölükbaşı was born in 1964 in Akçaabat, Trabzon.period. He has converted his interest
for collection he started with the post stamps he collected while he was only 10, into a rich
photography collection.Bölükbaşı has archived old books, documentary movies, ephemeras
and fratellis belonging to Trabzon.  He carries out some studies to exhibit his collections,
which are mentioned with thousands today, in the Trabzon History Museum.

Bölükbaşı converted his interest in photography into a hobby by establishing a dark chamber
in 1977. Bölükbaşı developed a passion for journalism
in secondary school. He made a book work in the characteristic of a documentary. He
wrote in magazines. He started taking thematic photographs by his journalist career he started
in Karadeniz (Black Sea) Newspaper in 1981.He bought the Akçaabat Postasi (The Akçaabat
Post) newspaper and Trabzon'da Spor gazetesi in which he started to work as an interviewer, and been its owner for three
years.

He has published 33 books consists of photographs and biographies, and one poetry book. He directed many documentaries and worked as a copywriter.He has been a jury member in many photography competitions; held 38 exhibitions in Turkey, 5 in Paris, and 1 in Dortmund. His interviews were published on many television programs.

Atilla Alp Bölükbaşı is married to Melek Bölükbaşı. He is a father of two children, namely
his daughter Çisem and his son Ali Mert.

Fishermen in Trabzon say 'Vira Bismillah': Colorful images from the season's first catch

Following the end of the fishing ban in the Black Sea, fishermen from Trabzon embarked on their first catch of the season, captured in images by photographer and video artist Atilla Bölükbaşı. The fishermen, who had been preparing to return to sea since April 15, had a successful catch, particularly of bonito, which is expected to be abundant this season, leading to generally lower fish prices. Ramazan Özkaya, Chairman of the Board of the Central Union of Aquatic Products Cooperatives, emphasized the importance of sustainable fishing practices and warned against overfishing. He also highlighted the need for regional fishing, legal adjustments to strengthen the sector, and deterrent penalties against illegal fishing during the ban period. The fishing industry contributes approximately 4 billion Turkish Lira to the economy annually and indirectly employs around 350,000 people.

The Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO) has applied for a geographical indication registration for the Trabzon anchovy, claiming it is a unique and more flavorful breed. TTSO President Suat Hacısalihoğlu is awaiting the result of their application, which is based on data from the Central Research Institute for Aquatic Products in Trabzon. The global market for products with geographical indications is valued over $200 billion, with the EU market alone reaching €80 billion. Turkey currently has 320 such products registered, compared to 3,500 in the EU. The Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry of Turkey has already registered the anchovy as 'Black Sea Anchovy' in February 2018.

The album 'Sevgi ve Sabır Abideleri: Tarihi Trabzon Camileri' showcases 40 historical mosques in Trabzon, Turkey, known for their extraordinary architecture, decorations, and wood craftsmanship. Photographer Atilla Alp Bölükbaşı captured the mosques' intricate stone work on mihrabs and arches, wood carvings on doors, pulpits, ceilings, and colorful brush decorations. The album, completed after two years of effort, was published with the support of the Eastern Black Sea Development Agency and the Trabzon Governorship Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate.
