Carol Maltesi photographed in the countryside on a bright day

04 Apr 2024  |  sg.style.yahoo.com
Davide Fontana, a bank employee from Milan, has been arrested for the murder of Carol Maltesi, an Italian-Dutch porn star known as Charlotte Angie. Fontana, who was Maltesi's neighbor and friend, confessed to killing her with a hammer in January, dismembering her body, and storing it in a freezer. He attempted to cover up the crime by impersonating her, paying her rent, and responding to messages on her phone. Maltesi's body was discovered off a mountain road in the Brescia province after she failed to attend an event. Journalist Andrea Tortelli received a tip-off about her identity and, after an exchange with Fontana who was pretending to be Maltesi, took his suspicions to the Carabinieri. Fontana is expected to face charges of aggravated murder and other related charges in a preliminary hearing.

Musk vs. Zuckerberg: Florence mayor proposes ‘match of minds’

04 Apr 2024  |  vancouversun.com
The mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, has proposed that Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg engage in a 'match of minds' rather than a physical cage fight. Musk has been in discussions with the Italian government to host a charity match with Zuckerberg at a historic site. However, Nardella suggests a battle of wits in Florence, reminiscent of the 1504 competition between Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Italy's culture minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano, has ruled out the Colosseum as a venue. Nardella argues that a mental contest on topics like artificial intelligence and globalization would be more interesting and culturally appropriate than a gladiator-style event. Maye Musk, Elon's mother, also prefers a verbal contest. Zuckerberg has expressed readiness for a physical match but awaits a confirmed date from Musk.

Giorgia Meloni's first act in power targets illegal raves with tough jail sentences

04 Apr 2024  |  sg.style.yahoo.com
Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has enacted a new law targeting illegal raves, allowing for up to six years of jail time and fines for organizers. This move follows a large unauthorized Halloween event near Modena. The decree, which applies to gatherings of 50 or more people that threaten public health, safety, or order, has been criticized by opposition parties as potentially leading to arbitrary suppression of public demonstrations. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi defended the decree, emphasizing its alignment with other European public safety laws. The law was prompted by the Witchtek event, which was shut down due to safety concerns and local complaints.

Scorching temperatures in southern Europe threaten wine production but may lead to high-quality vintage

04 Apr 2024  |  news.yahoo.com
Southern Europe is experiencing scorching temperatures that are affecting wine production, with Italy and France seeing a potential decline in harvest but an increase in quality. In Italy, the Umberto Cesari vineyards have adjusted to nocturnal harvesting to cope with the heat. Ilaria Cesari reported a decline in harvest but good quality in early varieties. Federvini noted a 15-20% decline in grape harvest across Italy. In Sicily, Donnafugata's Antonio Rallo expects a 20% lower production but with grapes that could lead to wines with good structure. In France, Jerome Volle anticipates an 'exceptional' vintage due to late concentration of grapes. However, in Spain, Jaume Gramona of Gramona winery predicts a challenging season with significant production drops and quality concerns. Pau Roca of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine also foresees catastrophic harvests for most Spanish regions.

04 Apr 2024  |  ca.sports.yahoo.com
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, both tech billionaires, have been hinting at a charity match following their personal fitness journeys. However, the mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, has suggested they engage in a battle of wits instead, reminiscent of the historical intellectual duel between Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo in Florence. Italy's culture minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano, has stated that the Colosseum will not be the venue for the proposed physical fight. Nardella has offered Florence's Piazza della Signoria as a venue for a debate on topics like artificial intelligence and globalization. Musk's mother, Maye Musk, also prefers a verbal contest. Musk is in talks with the Italian government about hosting his proposed cage fight with Zuckerberg at a historic site, but the mayor of Florence says a clash of ideas would be more civil

04 Apr 2024  |  calgaryherald.com
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, both prominent figures in Silicon Valley, have been discussing the possibility of a charity cage fight following their respective fitness journeys. However, the mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, has suggested that instead of a physical fight, they should engage in a battle of wits in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. The Italian government has been in talks with Musk about the event, but Italy’s culture minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano, has stated that the Colosseum in Rome will not be a venue for the event. Nardella has offered to organize an intellectual clash in the Piazza della Signoria, reminiscent of the historic competition between Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo in 1504.

Grape harvesting is done semi-nocturnally in the heatwave

04 Apr 2024  |  ca.sports.yahoo.com
Wine producers in southern Europe are facing a challenging year due to scorching temperatures and heatwaves, which are expected to reduce wine production but potentially lead to an excellent vintage. In Italy, the Umberto Cesari vineyards have adjusted their harvesting to semi-nocturnal hours to protect grapes and workers. Despite a decline in harvest output, the quality of early varieties like Pinots and Chardonnay is promising. Federvini reports a 15-20% decline in grape harvest nationwide. In Sicily, Donnafugata anticipates a 20% lower production but expects wines with good structure and longevity. France also predicts an 'exceptional' vintage due to late concentration of grapes. However, in Spain, the Gramona winery in Catalonia is experiencing a 'survival season' with significant production drops and quality concerns. The International Organisation of Vine and Wine's Pau Roca foresees catastrophic harvests for most Spanish regions.
