The article discusses a statement made by the leader of Serbia, who has taken a stance on several contentious issues. He has declared that Crimea is part of Ukraine, which is a significant statement given the international dispute over the region's status following its annexation by Russia in 2014. Additionally, the Serbian leader has addressed the illegal recruitment of Serbs by the Wagner Group, a private military company with ties to Russia, which has been active in various conflicts. He also mentioned his willingness to resign from his position. The article explains how these statements are related to the ongoing negotiations regarding Kosovo, a region that declared independence from Serbia in 2008 but whose status remains a point of contention in international relations and Serbian politics.

Why I left Russia for Serbia and what I found there
Aleksandar Đokić, a Serbian political scientist, recounts his decision to leave Russia following its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Despite feeling accepted in Russia and having a career as a lecturer at Moscow's RUDN University, Đokić felt unable to participate in any meaningful resistance against the Putin regime without risking imprisonment. He describes the academic freedom that existed to some extent in Russian universities and the varied, often self-interested reasons his Russian colleagues opposed the war. After the invasion, Đokić witnessed increased censorship and a chilling effect on public dissent. He eventually left Russia, returning to Serbia, where he found freedom of expression but also encountered Russian emigres who brought with them a sense of apathy and inaction. Đokić concludes by expressing hope that Ukraine's fight might eventually lead to change in Russia as well.
