Joseph Ngor Deng Matem is a South Sudanese journalist with more than 13 years of experience in broadcast, print, and digital journalism. He is an alumnus of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), a flagship program of the U.S. Department of State that empowers African youth with leadership skills. Joseph worked for over five years as a news and programs editor with community radio stations, where he focused on keeping communities informed to support informed decision-making. He is active on social media, producing stories on weather and climate change, and advocating for the welfare and inclusion of people living with disabilities. In 2023, he was selected to participate in the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Symposium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
