Ivan Omar Ali

I am Ivan Omar Ali (Ivan Hassib), a Syrian journalist and field researcher based in al-Hasakah and Qamishli, with over a decade of experience covering political, security, economic, and humanitarian developments in Northeast Syria. I have worked with leading international media outlets including Associated Press, Al-Monitor, Rudaw News Network, Sky News Arabia, and UNICEF, covering Kurdish-Kurdish negotiations, governance dynamics, displacement trends, and shifting lines of control.

In the research field, I have collaborated with Proximity International, IMMAP, Navanti Group, DT Institute, Hoplite Group, and ASO Center for Consultancy and Strategic Studies. My work combines investigative reporting, data collection (1,500+ surveys), in-depth interviews, focus groups, mapping, and analytical reporting. What distinguishes me is my strong local network, independent field access, and the ability to produce nuanced, data-driven analysis grounded in deep contextual knowledge of Northeast Syria.
