Independent Ukrainian journalist, local producer/ fixer based in Kyiv. 2024 Václav Havel Fellow at RFE/RL. Iryna has produced stories for NPR, Time magazine, The Times, Le Figaro, La Vie, La Presse, Tribune de Genève, Dispatch, and other outlets. As a reporter, she has contributed to the BBC, La Stampa, La Repubblica, New Eastern Europe, Inkstick Media, WhoWhatWhy, and more. For nearly a decade, she has covered human rights and war-related issues. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Iryna has worked as a local producer for NPR (U.S. public radio) and later as a video reporter with The Kyiv Independent. In 2024, she was selected as a Václav Havel Fellow from Ukraine and spent six months at the Prague headquarters of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Over the past two years, she has also reported from Israel, Palestine, and Syria following the fall of Bashar al-Assad. Having covered Ukraine for international audiences for many years, she has a comprehensive understanding of global media and can suggest original story ideas and sources, drawing on connections with civil society, human rights defenders, politicians, and the military and defense sector. Iryna is particularly interested in long-term projects and has experience working with documentary filmmakers, book writers, and journalists from around the world.
