Hsu Pan Naing is a documentary filmmaker whose work primarily explores social issues, especially from a woman's perspective. Drawing on her background in journalism at the Myanmar Times and documentary filmmaking training at the Yangon Film School, she uses various mediums, including animation, to tell stories. Her debut animated documentary, Dear Daughter, which tells the story of a woman trafficked to China, was screened at film festivals across Europe and Asia. She continues to develop short documentaries and scripts that address social issues, human rights, and justice. Currently, she is developing a personal feature-length documentary with an international focus. She also won the Memory Script Fund, and in 2024, her experimental short documentary, The Heart of Yangon, won the Best International Jury Choice Award at the DVB Peacock Film Festival.
