About Durrie
Durrie Bouscaren is an award-winning journalist covering migration, politics, and climate change in the Middle East and Turkey. 

She is the Istanbul correspondent for The World, a global affairs radio show and podcast distributed by PRX and GBH. Her work also airs on National Public Radio and various podcasts.​

Bouscaren is well versed in breaking news coverage and live hits, working both individually and as part of a reporting team. In the spring of 2020, Bouscaren followed a group of Uyghur parents using TikTok and whisper networks to find information about their missing children in China for This American Life. In 2018, she was selected as NPR's John Alexander Fellow, traveling to the highlands of Papua New Guinea to report a series on gender based violence and retaliatory killings over sorcery accusations. 

Bouscaren is a member of the Association of Independents in Radio (AIR) and the Foreign Media Association of Turkey (FMA). She speaks Turkish at a C1 level (CEFR), and a fair amount of French. Before moving to Turkey, she worked as a reporter for local NPR stations in Iowa and St. Louis. She is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
