A march co-organised by the Sheriff of Nioro and Imam Mahmoud Dicko drew huge crowds in Bamako on 8 April 2019. Through this demonstration of strength, hundreds of thousands of citizens expressed their frustration with the current government. They are demanding the departure of prime minister Soumeylou Boubèye Maïga, whose management of the centre of the country has been criticised.
